Chehalem Mountain Collies

All you need is love…love is all you need

Why Collies?

Collies are wonderful family dogs for young and old alike. They love to be near their humans and can be naturally trained for many services. They are an approachable breed with an inviting nature which can promote social interaction in various settings.

Collie pups are currently receiving basic training at the ranch for companion and Autism Service Dogs. This breed has been chosen for numerous reasons primarily based on their natural sensitivity, ease of trainability, and desire to please. Collies are athletic and adapt their activity level to that of their human partner.

The Collie breed was developed originally as a vocal herding dog. This can be an asset for families with children with elopement tendencies through the Collie’s natural ability to alert and guide and for partners that desire a watchful and vocal alert around the home to deter unwanted visitors.

The rough coated Collie, is not only beautiful but their coat is easily maintained through brushing to prevent mats in areas where their fur is more fine, such as behind the ears. Unlike the smooth coated Collie, the rough coated Collie “drops” their coat about once a year. For families with sensory seeking family members, brushing and finger combing could be a calming activity by meeting sensory needs.

The Collie’s desire to be near their humans promotes the ease of trainability of Deep Pressure Therapy (DPT) to regulate the nervous system by laying across a lap while sitting or across the body on the floor. The males weight range is between 60-75lbs and females 50-65.

Chehalem Mountain Collie puppies are the result of careful breeding to maintain the integrity, intelligence, temperament, health, and structure of the Collie breed.

Each puppy completes Early Neurological Stimulation, is genetically tested for common Collie diseases, and completes temperament testing prior to placement in their new homes to determine the right lifelong home placement. Chehalem Mountain Collies are a part of our family, if at any time, for any reason, due to life circumstances, you can no longer keep your Chehalem Mountain Collie, we will welcome them back home. Short and long term boarding services are provided for all Chehalem Mountain Collies.

Puppies are vet checked, vaccinated, dewormed and microchipped prior to placement and Chehalem Mountain Collies provides a health guarantee for each puppy.

Chehalem Mountain Collies are farm raised. Each puppy has exposure to a variety of sights, sounds, and animals prior to going to their new home.
